Katokye made his European debut at the renowned Le Guess Who? festival and is thrilled to return, revealing the unique vocal traditions of Uganda’s cattle-herding regions.
In Uganda, songwriters weave epic tales, improvise, and express spirituality through their art. Katokye's performances are entirely vocal—no instruments—creating an intimate connection through storytelling.

Having journeyed as a child across western Uganda, collecting melodies and narratives, Katokye emerged as one of the most celebrated artists in his homeland, releasing his first album just before his sixtieth birthday.

His musical style showcases a dialogic exchange between voices: a lead singer introduces a phrase, met by a responding voice that enriches and reinforces the initial line, leading to a hypnotic experience that balances repetition and creative variation.
