Leya
🎶 Leya has emerged as a prominent name in the international underground music scene. Known for their unique sound, they have collaborated with artists like Eartheater, Actress, Okay Kaya, Ecco2K, and claire rousay. Their work has been showcased at prestigious venues such as MoMA and Palais de Tokyo, as well as in fashion shows for global brands and leading international festivals.
Their mixtape Eyeline and the latest album I Forget Everything highlight their ability to explore a range of styles, from intimate chamber music to avant-pop and dark ambient landscapes.
The duo, consisting of harpist Marilu Donovan and violinist/singer Adam Markiewicz, creates a sonic experience that The Guardian describes as “music that sounds both 300 years old and as if from the distant future.” By utilizing alternatively tuned strings, operatic vocals, and a captivating play with dissonance, they transform traditional instruments into a medium for something strange, dreamlike, and ambiguous—music that oscillates between ecstasy and unease.
In their live performances, Leya crafts an experience that transcends conventional categories. The delicate beauty of the harp intertwines with the spiritual tension of the voice and violin, creating a space for the inexpressible. The result is a hypnotic concert that balances ancient rituals, experimental compositions, and a vision of the music of the future.
