
Loyalists & Liberty Exhibit Featuring American Revolutionary War Cannons
๐ Loyalists & Liberty: Savannah in the American Revolution is a new exhibit at the Savannah History Museum!
๐ก๏ธ Featuring 17 newly restored Revolutionary War-era cannons and other artifacts recovered from the Savannah River between 2021-22, this exhibit celebrates the 250th anniversary of America, having opened on Fourth of July weekend.
๐ Open 7 days a week during normal museum hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
๐ Alongside the restored cannons, you can also see two cannons in their original found condition, three anchor fragments, and other incredible objects spanning approximately 3,000 square feet. This landmark exhibit presents narratives that reflect diverse participation in the Revolution, highlights Georgiaโs role in the movement, and expands on the naval stories of the region.
๐ค This project has been a community effort filled with support from corporations, heritage organizations, and individuals.
๐๏ธ The Savannah History Museum is conveniently located across from Battlefield Memorial Park, which commemorates the Battle of Savannah in 1779โone of the bloodiest engagements of the American Revolutionary War.
