Lunch & Learn: Orlando in the Late 1800s

Join us for a fascinating exploration of Orlando's history! 🏙️

Orlando officially incorporated as a town in 1875 and became a city in 1885. Using two bird’s-eye view maps from 1884 and 1890, historian Rachel Williams will illustrate how the city’s foundational history has shaped modern Orlando.

About Our Speaker

Rachel Williams holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in history and public history from the University of Central Florida. She is currently the historian at the History Center, where she works on various projects, including editing the museum’s magazine, Reflections from Central Florida, and assisting the public with research projects.
