Musical Alchemy

Join us for a gathering of musical and meditation practices centered on free play, deep listening, mindfulness, and creative expression. Musicians and non-musicians alike are invited!

At the heart of music is interrelationship: between the sounds themselves, between listening and performing, and between self and others sharing the experience. Music-making can cultivate relationships across multiple levels and serve as a lens for examining relationality itself.

We’ll engage in musical “games”: participatory exercises with minimal prompts that act as catalysts for collaborative improvisation. These games will focus on personal expression and experimentation, welcoming people of all musical skill levels and backgrounds.

Additionally, we’ll explore silent meditation to practice different kinds of listening — both external and internal — and deepen our engagement with the present moment.

Come investigate what improvisation and listening reveal about the innate creative potential and musicality within everyone!
