Nicolas Bourriaud, one of today’s most influential curators, will present his latest reflections on the intersection of contemporary art, technology, and organic life. He gained international recognition as the author of the concept of “relational aesthetics,” through which he describes artistic strategies based on interpersonal relationships and viewer participation. He also introduced the term “postproduction,” which refers to artistic practices based on the appropriation and remixing of existing materials.

Nicolas Bourriaud is a curator and theorist, author of influential books such as Relational Aesthetics (1998), Postproduction (2002, Czech edition Postprodukce, 2004), The Radicant (2009), and Inclusions: Aesthetics of the Capitalocene (2023). He has curated major exhibitions such as Traffic (1996), Altermodern (2009), and Planet B. Climate Change and the New Sublime (2022), and served as artistic director of the 15th Gwangju Biennale (2024) and curator of the 16th Istanbul Biennial (2019). From 2016 to 2021, he served as director of Montpellier Contemporain (MoCo) in France, an institution he founded that connects the La Panacée contemporary art center, the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, and the MoCo museum. From 1999 to 2006, he was co-founder and co-director of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

The discussion and program will be moderated by Michal Novotný, director of the Post-1945 Art Collection.

The program will be conducted in English. The event is organized in collaboration with Kodl Contemporary.
