Pas de trois: Trio Delyria

At this one-off concert as part of this year's ULLMANN CELEBRATIONS, the audience will not hear any music by Viktor Ullmann (as he did not compose any works for this instrumentation), but all of the composers featured and their compositions are closely linked to Ullmann's musical and intellectual world and his life journey: Shostakovich's lifelong artistic and human struggle against Soviet totalitarianism did not end tragically as in Ullmann's case, but it nevertheless cost the artist a great deal of vitality and is still considered today an impressive example of an indomitable artistic spirit. The music of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy was banned by the Nazi regime because of his Jewish origins. Ursula Mamlok, born in Berlin in 1923, had to emigrate to the USA with her Jewish family in the 1930s, where she later built a successful musical career. And the composition by Lee Bradshaw, a contemporary Australian composer, which will be heard in its Czech premiere, is a variation on a popular Hebrew song that calls for a friendly and peaceful life...

The members of the Trio Delyria, David Strongin (violin), Elisha Kravitz (piano), and Uriah Tutter (cello), are originally from Israel, but all studied in Germany and founded their ensemble there in 2020. Among other achievements, they are runners-up in the chamber music competition of the Polytechnic Society for students of the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and finalists in the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition in Berlin. They also boast numerous awards as soloists. They are regularly invited to concerts in Germany and Israel, as well as to recordings for Israeli radio.
