A Portrait of a City 🎨

Join us for People of Ipswich, a unique Reverse Exhibition where the creation of art is the artwork itself! From 26 August to 4 September 2026, the Ipswich Community Gallery will be transformed into a vibrant portrait studio. Over the course of 10 days, up to 200 Ipswich residents will have the opportunity to sit for a professional black-and-white portrait.

📸 As each portrait is captured and printed on-site, it will be immediately added to our gallery walls, forming a dynamic mosaic that represents the faces of our community. By the end of this collaborative project, we’ll have a visual record celebrating the diversity, dignity, and presence of the people who proudly call Ipswich home.
