For this exhibition, Årikstad has created new works during the winter of 2026, focusing on experimentation with techniques that merge his painterly and collage-based works on canvas. The exhibition will also showcase a new textile work inspired by his travels to Naples and Ischia.

Årikstad’s artistic journey draws parallels to Paul Thek’s experiences in Italy, as he immerses himself in diverse sources of inspiration for his assemblage-like sculptures made from overlooked materials. His broad practice includes painting, sculpture, collage, drawing, installation, and video, exploring both large and small questions without seeking definitive answers.

This exhibition aligns with MLAG’s 2026 curatorial theme, A Blue House of Care, which addresses hydro-aesthetic positions and future water imaginaries.

In recent years, Årikstad has exhibited at various venues, including the Norwegian Sculptors Society and Kristiansand Kunsthall. He lives and works in Kristiansand, where he also runs the exhibition space PALASS (KRS).
