Private Guided Tour New Art Trail on New Toronto Island + Dinner
Note: A private guided tour has been arranged to explore both East and West Trails.
Join us on Saturday, August 8th for an exclusive opportunity to tour the New Lassonde Art Trail (LAT), which opened in late June and completed its final art installation on July 25th. LAT is part of the spectacular Biidaasige Park, located on the newly developed island in the Toronto harbour archipelago. Conveniently, a TTC stop and parking are available across the street.
Spanning over 4 km, LAT features 15 interconnected public art sites within 60 acres of newly created parkland along Toronto’s waterfront. The initiative believes in enhancing wellbeing through public art, fostering respectful dialogue, and promoting environmental stewardship. Please note: Tours may be canceled in case of extreme weather. A decision will be made 3 hours before the event if rain is expected.
LAT is at the center of a significant $1.4 billion project that rerouted the mouth of the Don River and built essential flood protection for downtown Toronto. This engineering endeavor created a new island, Ookwemin Minising, complete with functional wetlands and extensive publicly accessible spaces, rejuvenating the environment and promoting biodiversity.
