About the event

Join us for a delightful gathering in the community garden to read and discuss selections from "Touching the Earth" by bell hooks. ๐ŸŒ

Host: Aminah Hanif-Cruz, Hub Lead, Black Girl Environmentalist
Facilitator: Ashia Ajani, Storyteller and Environmental Educator

Together, we will explore bell hooks' powerful insights on nature, healing, and interconnectedness. Bring your favorite mug, an open mind, and a desire to connect deeply with others. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. ๐Ÿตโœจ

  • 4:20-5:15 PM: Reading & Discussion
  • 5:15-5:30 PM: Break
  • 5:30-5:50 PM: Journaling Session
  • 5:50-6:00 PM: Closing Circle

Who's Invited?

Anyone interested in learning about bell hooks' writings, building a bookish community, or seeking a mindful shift towards environmental and racial justice.

Parking ๐Ÿš—

Parking is accessible with free, non-metered street parking available nearby. Ideal options include Oregon Street and Stanton Street. Most neighborhood streets have a 2-hour limit for non-residents.

Accessibility โ™ฟ

The grounds feature unpaved, uneven paths that may be challenging to navigate, especially during wet weather. There is no dedicated large parking lot or formal ADA restroom facility on site.
