For the fourth event of the Real Estate series, we’ll head to Beeckestijn, a beautiful country estate in Velsen-Zuid, not far from Amsterdam.

Beeckestijn is a place where architecture, landscape and history come together in a particularly fascinating way. The estate has a rich and layered past, and is surrounded by one of the most remarkable historic gardens in the Netherlands — including what is often considered the oldest landscape garden in the country. It is a place shaped by wealth, taste, transformation and history, and one that still preserves its character in a truly special way.

During our walk, we’ll explore the estate and discover the stories behind the main house, the surrounding buildings, and the different parts of the garden and park. As always in the Real Estate series, we’ll pay attention not only to the history of the property itself, but also to the way architecture, landscape design, flora and fauna all interact to create the identity of the place.

🌿 Expect a relaxed walk through a wonderfully preserved estate, with elegant garden design, historical details, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

After the walk, instead of stopping at the estate café (as it's closed on Sunday), we’ll go to Biercafé Middeloo, a beer bar not far from the estate, where we can have a drink and chat together. They have a very interesting selection of Dutch beers, including breweries from the Amsterdam area and beyond. And for those who want, it’s also possible to have something to eat there.

A beautiful historic estate, a remarkable garden, and a good beer afterwards — a pretty perfect Sunday afternoon.
