About the Exhibition:
The kitchen table often serves as a birthplace for artistic consciousness. This exhibition explores how familial dynamics and domestic spaces shape creative awareness. The featured artists delve into themes of memory, legacy, and the materials that connect us to our pasts.
Cheryl Capezzuti creates multi-scaled figurative sculptures from dryer lint, exploring narratives of love and loss.
Susan Fuller presents sculptures that forge memory through assemblages of ivory keys, echoing maternal connections.
N. Masani Landfair employs a collage aesthetic to foster dialogue between photo manipulation and history.
Anissa Mack merges found objects with photographs, revealing transformative glimpses into Americana.
Samantha Mack uses crocheting and found objects to explore intergenerational traditions and family connectivity.
The exhibition invites viewers to consider how familial and maternal inscriptions influence artistic practices and narratives. It challenges the notion that personal histories are secondary in the art world, emphasizing their central role in creative expression.
ARTS Southeast’s exhibitions programming is made possible with investment by the City of Savannah. This program is also sponsored in part by Starlandia Art Supply and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
