Scénické čtení hebrejské poezie – Mešuge dům
Staged Reading of Hebrew Poetry – Mešuge dům at the Synagogue in Čáslav
Mešuge dům is a collection of poems by Israeli poet and Hebrew professor Lali Michaeli, translated into Czech by translator, journalist, and publicist Michaela Rozov and published by the prestigious Dauphin publishing house.
At the recommendation of the Czech PEN Club, the Brno-based Agadir Theater adapted it for a staged reading; specifically, Milena Fucimanová, professor emerita of Slavic studies, prepared a selection from the collection and the script, while her son Ondřej Fuciman set the work to music.
The staged reading has already been presented in Brno, at the Mahen Library, and also in Prague, at the Václav Havel Library.
At the end of the performance, Michaela recites in Hebrew and delivers a profound speech about Franz Kafka and his influence on her work. This is followed by a discussion with the poet. The discussion is interpreted from Hebrew by Michaela Rozov.
