About the event

Join us at Middle Church in New York City for a special screening of the powerful performance film, Redemption Time! 🎬

This captivating 70-minute film stars poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and jazz violinist Christian Howes, whose lives have been profoundly impacted by incarceration. Together, they share inspiring stories that resonate with themes of dignity, struggle, and renewal.

Directed by David Gonzalez, the film intertwines spoken-word poetry and live jazz, creating a deep narrative of healing and personal freedom from trauma and confinement. 🌈

The event invites attendees to engage with vital themes—including belonging, isolation, judgment, dignity, harm, healing, and the possibility of second chances—beyond what unfolds on the screen.

Expect an enriching evening that includes:

  • 🎥 Film Screening
  • 💬 Panel Discussion
  • 🎉 Reception

This screening is presented in collaboration with Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA), and not only serves to showcase this impactful film but also functions as a fundraiser to support RTA’s mission of empowering incarcerated individuals through the arts, helping them develop essential life skills and successfully reintegrate into society.

✨ Admission is free, but we encourage a suggested donation of $20 to support this noble cause! ✨
