Shakuhachi Making Workshop with John Kaizan Neptune No.2

Join us for an unforgettable experience as you learn to sculpt a beautiful piece of bamboo into a finely-tuned shakuhachi instrument under the masterful guidance of John Kaizan Neptune! 🎵
John, a celebrated shakuhachi player and maker from Chiba, Japan, combines analytical techniques with artistry, crafting instruments that resonate beautifully across three octaves. During this immersive three-day workshop, you'll have the chance to:

• ✂️ Cut, drill, and file bamboo to create your own jinashi shakuhachi.
• 🌱 Work with bamboo blanks provided by John or bring your own (semi-finished shakuhachi welcome!).
• 📏 Receive personalized guidance to shape your instrument's bore and address any issues you encounter.

With only seven spots available, this workshop is tailored for creators of all skill levels, including total beginners.

🔧 All necessary tools will be available, but feel free to bring your favorite!

🪵 Bamboo Options: Each participant receives one bamboo blank from John’s unique collection, or you can order premium high-quality bamboo at an additional cost facilitated by John himself.

🌍 The workshop will be conducted in English and hosted by NEIRO Association Expanding Arts.
