The ballet Sleeping Beauty, set to the unique music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, is one of the masterpieces of the so-called classical ballet repertoire. On stages around the world, it is most often performed under the title La Belle au Bois Dormant, based on the original libretto inspired by Charles Perrault’s French fairy tale.

In this case, however, it is a completely reworked production based on a Czech fairy tale. In this choreography, you won’t see any fairies, but—as you know from the Czech version of the fairy tale—three Fates. Sleeping Beauty doesn’t prick her finger on a hairpin, but on a thorny rose...
