Son Little + support: Jordan Jackson

Son Little, one of the faces of modern soul and blues, is heading to Prague. On April 14, 2026, this Philadelphia-based artist will bring a unique combination of genres and enchanting melodies to Café V lese, including his latest November single, In Orbit.

Son Little is an American singer, songwriter, and producer from Philadelphia. His stage name comes from a family nickname, and it was in this environment that his love of music was born. As the son of a preacher, he grew up surrounded by gospel, soul, and blues music, which captivated him as a child. He later lived in Los Angeles, New York, and New Jersey, but it was in Philadelphia where his musical identity was most strongly formed. He drew musical inspiration from Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar, but his work currently leans toward R&B, soul, blues, hip-hop, folk, and modern electronic genres. However, he is most characterized by his sincere, emotionally charged lyrics, in which he addresses themes of vulnerability, love, and life experiences that shaped him during his adolescence.

The turning point in his career came thanks to his collaboration with producer RJD2 on the joint project Icebird, which later led to collaborations with The Roots and Mavis Staples, for which he even won a Grammy Award as a producer. The subsequent signing of a contract with the independent label ANTI- launched his own successful music career. He received significant acclaim for his last two albums, Aloha (2020) and Like Neptune (2022). The first was created after
he lost the entire recording and had to rewrite the album from scratch in just eight days. Like Neptune is his most personal project, capturing a process of profound personal transformation. It is inspired by his experiences with therapy and old diaries from his childhood.

The unique combination of traditional African-American roots and modern sound has not escaped critics, who appreciate Little's ability to combine raw emotion with distinctive melodies. His best-known songs, Lay Down, The River, About Her. Again, Demon To The Dark and the November release In Orbit, demonstrate how naturally he works with intimacy, tension and genre crossovers.
