SUBSTATION

On April 10, Substation opens its circuits for the first time. Titled Postponed, Preannounced, and Perfectly On Time, the edition unfolds across two dance floors at the newly opened AMT in Berlin, conceived as a gathering point for queers, diggers, and scene-builders where the night traces electronic currents connecting cosmic darkwave disco, euro-synth curiosities, acid-tinged crossovers, darkroom electro, house and techno rave cuts, and Berlin’s queer underground into a single, shifting frequency.

The current begins with ābnamā, Body Language resident, weaving three decades of dance music from Midwest oddities to UK post-punk trance and acid, and Cristóval Dilunar, Lobotomy and Disco Fantasma resident, blending theatrical Spanish electroclash and synth-pop vocals with dark disco, techno, acid house, and new beat, while guiding the arc are Dauwd, of African Acid Is The Future, balancing Detroit house with German Krautrock, and Substation and Power Dance Club resident Majdolen, moving fluidly through oscillating low-end tension, percussive restraint, and emotionally potent grooves.

From there, Menishu, Soup resident, journeys through darkroom techno with trance and psychedelic layers, and Richii, Cocktail d’Amore and PDA resident, spins Italo-disco deep cuts, New Beat oddities, and cosmic disco fragments with subtle shifts and hidden surprises, while SXCL navigates house, trance, electro, and old-school techno since 2017, balancing melancholy, intensity, and levity with precise attention to grooves and polyrhythms.

Substation is a new episode for the city calling for curiosity, care, and connection in the queer underground where this first edition is a deliberate space in which sound, movement, and attention converge and the night shapes the room.
