Hard-luck cabbie John Winger (Bill Murray) finds himself directionless after losing his job and girlfriend. In a bid for purpose, he enlists in the U.S. Army alongside his friend Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis). After a rocky start in basic training, Winger becomes the unlikely leader of a group of Army misfits. However, his antics take a wild turn when he accidentally commandeers a military assault vehicle behind enemy lines, leading to potential international chaos!
