Sydney Tech Pickleball

Join us for a relaxed weekly pickleball session designed for Sydney tech workers to connect, play, and have some fun! 🌟

We have 2 courts booked, and you'll rotate courts and partners, making it a great way to wind down your Thursday! Most participants are beginners, so there's no need to worry if you're new to the game.

Logistics

• Location: House of Pickle - Darling Harbour, Level 4/14 Darling Dr, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
• Tickets: Get your tickets via Luma. You can buy for yourself and your friends too!
• Equipment: All paddles and balls are provided.
• Facilities: Showers are available at ICC, in the carpark level.

Cancellations

• You can cancel within 24 hours of the event for a credit to attend a future session. Just send a WhatsApp message to Tim to cancel.
• If the weather is very wet, we'll cancel and notify you through Luma via email and our WhatsApp group. You'll receive a credit for a future session.

Pickleball Basic Rules & Scoring

Before your first game, check out this 5-min video covering the basic rules and scoring. We'll use traditional scoring rules with games up to 11 (win by 2 points).

Beginner Tips

• Don't worry about looking silly; everyone does at the beginning! 😄
• Remember to say the score before serving to keep track.
• Notice your common mistakes to improve.
• Get to the kitchen line quickly; don't hang back at the baseline like in tennis.
• The serve must be underarm in an upward arc.
• Remember the two-bounce rule: the ball must land once on each side before you can start volleying.

General Etiquette

• It's a social game for fun, so let's keep it friendly! 🤝
• After each game, change partners and courts. If someone is waiting, they get priority to play next.
• Keep score to help the games flow smoothly.
• At the end of each game, touch paddles with each player as a friendly gesture.
