Distillation appears to be the fundamental process in t0ni’s music. Starting from the early future garage variations through to the album Exit Life (2021), the Italo-Australian producer, DJ and founder of the Soul Feeder platform has been steadily working towards a crystalline melancholy. This process culminates with his latest release, Ego Death Memories (2024), laser-focused on not just one emotion but seemingly also on one motivic pattern. The influences and parallels of trance, wave or instrumental grime gradually sublimate into simple, intoxicating melodies that make time stand still. The largely beatless music – piano-like synths and weightless pads – is almost ambient in nature; its minimalist structures make every sound effect and change feel meaningful. You will be drawn in immediately; you will cherish this escape many times.
