🌍 The Underground Railroad (UGRR) was neither underground nor a railroad. It was a network of individuals and communities that assisted fugitive slaves in their quest for freedom, helping them flee north to states that prohibited slavery or to Canada. 🗺️ Most active in Indiana from 1830 to 1865, every Indiana community has oral histories about those who participated in the UGRR. However, the nature of this network often makes it challenging to find concrete evidence to support these stories. Join us to learn about those buried in Crown Hill Cemetery and the significant roles they played in this vital movement.
