Upcycle your Jeans or Jacket - Slow Stitching Workshop

About the event

Unwind, stitch by stitch, and give new life to your jeans or jacket in this beautifully calming slow stitching workshop in Sydney with Deb from Hi I’m Deb. This is your invitation to pause.

✨ No stress. No rules. Just the gentle, meditative rhythm of needle and thread. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced maker, this relaxed hand stitching class is all about creative expression, connection, and carving out a little time just for you. In a world that moves quickly, this is your space to slow down, breathe deeply, and embrace the beauty of imperfection.

What is Slow Stitching?

Slow stitching is a mindful, intuitive approach to sewing focusing on the process rather than the outcome. Using simple hand embroidery and stitching techniques, you will create textured, layered designs that tell a story through fabric. It is creative, calming, and deeply grounding - perfect for anyone seeking a gentle, therapeutic craft experience.

What You’ll Learn

During this mindful stitching workshop, you will be guided through a variety of simple and versatile hand-sewing techniques, including:

  • Basic decorative stitches
  • Layering and textile composition
  • Adding texture and dimension
  • Creative upcycling methods
  • Developing your own unique stitching style

You will leave with the confidence and skills to continue your piece at home and incorporate slow stitching into your everyday life.
