About the Band:
Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Influenced by Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps, as well as The Velvet Underground, their mission was to rock harder than any other acoustic act.
After a chance performance outside a Pretenders gig, they caught the attention of Chrissie Hynde, who invited them to open the show. This led to a record deal and worldwide touring.
Their debut album became the first in Billboard history to enter the charts with a platinum certification eight years after its release.
Over the years, they have performed in over 20 countries and have inspired artists like Pink, Keith Urban, and The Smiths.
