Alison Knowles (1933–2025) was a pivotal figure in the Fluxus movement, prominent from the 1960s in various forms of art including performance, sound, text, and visual arts. The Fluxus movement was an international, innovative initiative that sought to blur the lines between art and daily life through interactive performances and happenings. In the Nordic region, Copenhagen—especially Nikolaj Kunsthal—played a vital role in fostering the evolution of this movement.

Karen Moss is an esteemed art historian and former Professor of Critical Studies at the University of Southern California. She is also the author of a dedicated monograph on Alison Knowles. This exhibition has previously traversed prestigious venues like BAMPFA, Museum Wiesbaden, and Musée d’art moderne et contemporain Saint-Étienne, with plans to move to the Grey Art Museum in New York afterward.
