Women Who Scale: Navigating Career, Culture & Ambition in Tech

About the event

Join us for the second event in the trawa Women in Tech Collective, an uplifting series aimed at building connection, empowerment, and visibility for women making waves in Berlin’s tech landscape.

This time, we’re excited to host a dynamic panel discussion featuring experienced female engineering managers from renowned companies. Together, we'll tackle the pressing issue of how high-growth tech environments often become burnout machines by design. As companies scale, the rapid pace may overshadow inclusive cultures, leading to critical conversations about the often-unrecognized 'Glue Work' that women tend to shoulder.

This isn't a conventional 'lean in' session; we’re here to redefine impact, measure ambition differently, and evolve career frameworks to truly reflect what fuels growth. Expect honest perspectives and actionable insights tailored for every career stage.

Meet the Speakers:

  • Syamala Umamaheswaran (Engineering Manager at Zalando): A seasoned product development expert with a decade in tech, Syamala is also a public speaker and co-founder of Indian Women in Tech Berlin, advocating for diversity and career growth.
  • Larisa Amariei (Former Engineering Manager at N26): An ICF-accredited coach with 11 years in fintech, Larisa expertly balances people-centric leadership with high performance, shining a light on often-overlooked impacts.
  • Meng Li (Engineering Manager at SAP): With over 15 years of experience across various sectors in Asia and Europe, Meng is a former startup co-founder who is now spearheading Platform Mesh, an open-source initiative championing Europe’s digital sovereignty.
