About the event

🧠 A Sneak Peek Into the Future of Neuroscience

What if you had seen the Transformer algorithm a decade before it sparked the Generative AI revolution? Or caught a glimpse of RNA vaccine technology years before it transformed medicine? Breakthroughs born in academic labs have a remarkable habit of reshaping entire industries — and the next wave is already forming.

In this forward-looking talk, Professor Moran Cerf will offer an exclusive preview of cutting-edge ideas currently emerging from neuroscience research labs — discoveries poised to define and potentially dominate our world in the years ahead. Think of it as a rare window into tomorrow, designed to help leaders, entrepreneurs, and curious minds understand what's coming next and how to prepare.

🎤 About the Speaker: Professor Moran Cerf

Moran Cerf is a neuroscientist, professor of business, and one of the most compelling voices at the intersection of brain science, technology, and human behavior.

🏛️ Academic & Research Roles

  • Director of the Lab for Advanced Technology and Human Performance at Columbia University
  • Academic Director in Executive Education at Columbia
  • Alfred P. Sloan Professor at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AFI)

🎓 Education

  • PhD in Neuroscience — Caltech
  • MA in Philosophy of Science — Tel-Aviv University
  • BSc in Physics — Tel-Aviv University

🔬 Research & Impact

Prof. Cerf's research involves studying patients undergoing brain surgery with neural implants embedded deep in the brain, exploring consciousness, dreams, behavioral change, and decision-making. His pioneering work has laid the groundwork for critical neuroscience disciplines — including advanced brain-machine interfaces — and is central to commercial ventures such as Neuralink and Paradromic.

He is the founder of Return on AI, a professional services organization specializing in the convergence of neuroscience and artificial intelligence.

His expertise has also been applied at the highest levels of governance — including contributing to the redesign of the US nuclear launch protocol.

Prior to academia, he spent a decade in cybersecurity as a hacker and has served on the boards of multiple public companies.

📚 Publications & Media

Prof. Cerf has published in top academic journals including Nature and Science, as well as popular outlets like Scientific American, Wired, and New Scientist. He contributes regularly to Forbes, The Atlantic, BBC, Bloomberg, Time, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and more.

His work has appeared on CNN, Fox, and Netflix Explained, and has been featured in TV shows such as Bull, Limitless, House, Mr. Robot, and others. His research was also adapted into the Off-Broadway production "Sans Me".

He is the author of several books, including the graphic novel "Brain Imaging: An Illustrated Guide to the Future of Neuroscience" and "Return on AI".

🌍 Public Speaking & Recognition

Prof. Cerf has delivered widely viewed talks at TED, TEDx, DLD, and the World Economic Forum, accumulating millions of views. He is a four-time US National Storytelling Champion (The Moth) and the recipient of numerous honors including the President's Excellence Award, The Sage Award, and the Templeton Extraordinary Minds Award. He has been recognized as one of the "40 Leading Professors Under 40."

Oh — and he's left-handed. ✋
