Acid Row has long been one of the leading names on the domestic heavy underground scene. This makes the band’s announcement of their upcoming album all the more exciting. The Prague-based stoner doom band will launch their new album, Magic, on May 16. The launch will take place in an unconventional club setting—on the Cargo Gallery boat on Prague’s riverfront. Acid Row will perform the album live for the very first time there, although the digital release is set for May 1, 2026.
The band is known for its uncompromising approach, dark aesthetic, and explosive concerts that leave the club in shambles. Their latest album Poisoned Mind (2024) confirmed their quality by winning the Anděl Award in the Rock category. The band actively tours throughout Central Europe and has performed alongside global genre icons such as Clutch, Bongzilla, Red Fang, and Stoned Jesus. The new album Magic represents the band’s most intense recording to date. The album delves into a hypnotic world of slowed-down riffs, nihilism, and a ritualistic atmosphere, balancing on the edge of genres such as stoner, doom, sludge, and noise rock. The sound is denser, darker, and more intense, with an emphasis on repetition and the gradual engulfment of the listener. Thematically, the album explores the illusion of power, the destruction of faith, and magic as both a tool and a deception. It loosely follows the band’s previous work, but this time with no hint of escape—the “rabbit hole” opens wide, and the listener falls into the unknown with no way back.
The evening will feature special guests in the form of two additional bands. The first is the Dresden-based band Dead Myrick, whose music ranges from hard-hitting bar anthems to rolling stoner boogie and almost Motörhead-esque power rock. Their sound is complemented by distinctive “Lemmy-style” vocals that get the crowd headbanging.
Brno’s Sloth, originally an instrumental sludge/doom trio formed in 2018, builds on slow, dense, and hypnotic riffs. Following the release of their debut Sloth (2023), the band added vocals to their lineup and in 2024 released the singles Runnin’ and Dog Shit. They are currently working on their second album, Slothmachine, which they will launch that same evening alongside Acid Row.
