Adorning with Buttons

Join us in the studio for a sweet evening of stitching and conversation — turning old garments into one-of-a-kind artworks! 💖

This August, we'll be reworking garments with button designs. We've sourced an incredible button supply from up and down the east coast for you to use to craft custom motifs and transform your pieces into whimsical wares! Check out this Pinterest board to see the kind of things that are possible.

We'll kick off the time with an inspo session, go over the basics of sewing on buttons, and leave you to follow your creative whims alongside other crafty humans.

Bring a special garment from home, or opt to choose a secondhand oversized button-up from our collection. All button-ing materials provided, and this gathering is entirely beginner-friendly.

A complimentary beverage will be provided, and snacks will be available for purchase.

What can I expect from a project at RecCreate?

Projects are the perfect chance to finally make that thing you saved on TikTok or pinned months ago, where all you have to do is show up! We curate the coolest materials and walk you through it step by step. Naturally, you leave with the sickest me-made piece for yourself or as the sweetest gift. Projects are a great opportunity to try out a new craft without having to invest in all of the materials, alongside other creative humans. These are not highly technical workshops— our emphasis is on craft, self-expression, and creative empowerment.

As with all RecCreate events, you can expect to go on this journey with a room full of lovely strangers. We’ll offer opportunities for connection throughout our time— encouraging the spirit of the collective. It is (so) much more fun to create together!

Getting Here

The venue is a hidden art studio located at 20 Grand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205 on the 6th floor of a commercial building! When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open, and take the elevator up to 6 (push the elevator button until it turns red!). Take a right out of the elevator, and a left at the end of the hallway. The door will be the first one on your right.

Cancellation Policy

Unfortunately, for this event, tickets are non-refundable/exchangeable! Please double-check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or swap it on our ticket swap board. Just tell them to use your name!

Photography Disclaimer

Though we do our best to keep all photography/video to a minimum, please note all guests who attend consent to being photographed and videoed, which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes at the discretion of RecCreate Collective.

All guests must be 18+ to attend, and though we love your pups, unfortunately, we cannot have them in the studio!
