🌐 AI x Climate Cluster Meetup: Space Data Centers

🚀 Featured Speaker: Rob DeMillo — CEO & Co-founder, Sophia Space

Rob DeMillo will present how orbital infrastructure could reshape AI's environmental equation. His Pasadena-based company, Sophia Space, is constructing modular, solar-powered data centers in low Earth orbit — deploying a constellation of autonomous compute units called "Tiles" that:

• ☀️ Harvest solar energy directly in orbit
• 🤖 Handle AI processing on-orbit
• 🌡️ Radiate waste heat straight into space — no cooling infrastructure needed

Rob brings a remarkable background to this challenge: he previously served as the inaugural CTO of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (one of the world's leading architecture firms) and spent years as a research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. A serial entrepreneur since the 1990s, he's uniquely positioned at the crossroads of deep tech and sustainable infrastructure.
