An Enemy of the People
“They have their own press and newspapers,
they want us to ****** while they write history.*Are they really so afraid of the truth?”*
“Today we no longer live in the age of truth and facts, but in the age of interpretations. Everyone has their own truth and facts bend according to who they serve.”– Máté Kantár
The productionEnemy of the People is based on Henrik Ibsen's classic play, but under the direction of Máté Kantár, it takes on a new, urgent meaning. At a time when facts are relativized and public discourse is subject to manipulation, this timeless political example becomes relevant again. The author team of the production did not choose this play for its historical context, but for its ability to reflect the present. The viewer can find their own social reality, their own conflict, and their own “truth” in it.
