Art + Science: Cotton Duck Canvas

Art + Science: Cotton Duck Canvas

About the event

Have you ever been curious about the secrets behind our conservation labs? πŸ€” Join a member of the Straus Center staff for an engaging conversation about their work in preserving invaluable objects from our collections!

πŸ“ This informal gathering takes place just outside the Straus Center in the Lightbox Gallery. You'll have the chance to get up close and hands-on with a variety of tools and materials used by our conservation experts.

🌟 In this session, associate paintings conservator Ellen Davis will share insights on the fascinating use of cotton duck canvas. With the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies being a global leader in fine arts conservation, research, and training, it’s a unique opportunity to learn how conservation science intersects with curatorial practice to enhance the care for around 250,000 objects in the Harvard Art Museums collections.

πŸ›οΈ Check in with museum staff at the Visitor Services desk in the Calderwood Courtyard to join this program. Be mindful that spaces are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no registration is required.
