HAPPENING NOW | DAY 1 CICM HISTORY SESSION | JULY 20, 2026 BY: Joeffrey Almazan PhD.Exploring the rich history of CICM a journey through its origins, milestones, and lasting impact. A session dedicated to understanding the foundation and evolution of this influential institution. The CICM (Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae), or Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was founded in 1862 in Belgium by Father Theophile Verbist. Initially, the order focused on missionary work in China, particularly in the northern part. Later, the CICM expanded its reach to other parts of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In 1907, the CICM arrived in the Philippines, specifically tasked with evangelizing the northern regions. The order has since played a significant role in education and community development, particularly in the Cordillera region. Founding and Early Mission: Father Theophile Verbist, concerned about the lack of orphanages and the poverty in China.#MaryhurstSeminary#cicmhistory
