🎶 1017 is an experimental trio featuring Colin Stetson, Stian Westerhus, and Erland Dahlen, operating on the edge of pressure and release. Named after the theoretical energy required to create a black hole, this project channels that same unstable pull into a live experience where density, tension, and emotional exposure become inseparable forces.

📎 1017 traverses scorched drones, fractured song forms, and towering melodic structures with total commitment.

• Colin Stetson’s circular breathing and overwhelming saxophone work generate immense waves of resonance, shaped by collaborations with Laurie Anderson, Bon Iver, and Tom Waits.
• Stian Westerhus stretches the electric guitar into volatile new terrain, smearing tones into vast harmonic fields and delivering exposed vocals, echoing his work with Sidsel Endresen and Nils Petter Molvær.
• Erland Dahlen anchors and destabilizes through deep percussion and metallic textures, informed by his collaborations with Jenny Hval and Mats Gustafsson.

🔄 1017 continuously mutates, with songs dissolving into abstraction before reforming as something sharper and darker. Their sound is woven with traces of art rock, free jazz, ambient composition, and noise music, approaching performance as a process of constant transformation — an evolving system of pressure, collapse, and release.

📅 Following a celebrated debut tour in 2024, 1017 returns in 2026 with their first studio album and an extensive run of international shows.
