About the event

🎨 Join us for an enlightening seminar with art historian and curator, Kirsten Lloyd, from the University of Edinburgh!

In this engaging session, Kirsten will delve into her upcoming book, Contemporary Art and Capitalist Life, providing a curatorial lens on how artists navigate pivotal issues of the 21st century such as class struggles, climate change, and the remnants of colonialism, alongside pressing topics like housing and healthcare.

📚 What to Expect:

  • An introduction to using curatorial methods as research.
  • Insights from three foundational projects: the Contemporary Art Research Collection at the University of Edinburgh, and the exhibitions ECONOMY and Life Support: Forms of Care in Art and Activism.
  • A fresh perspective on the book through a curator’s analysis of select chapters.
