February Half Term 'Wassail Song' Trail at Wightwick Manor and Gardens
🌳✨ Wake the orchard from its winter slumber this February half term at Wightwick Manor!
Enjoy a delightful Wassail Trail that invites families to journey through the beautiful gardens. Help hunt for missing words, sing to welcome spring, and assist the apple trees in preparing for their growing season.
A wassail (from the old English 'Waes Hael', meaning “be healthy”) is a time-honored winter tradition where we visit orchards, singing merrily and showing gratitude to the trees, prompting them to grow robustly and yield a bountiful apple harvest. It’s a jubilant way to banish the winter blues and embrace the enlivening spirit of spring! 🌼🎶
This year, we have a special Wassail song ready, but mischievous winter sprites have been busy scattering the missing words throughout the gardens! Explore the trail, seeking high and low for clues to piece together the poem. Once accomplished, you’ll have everything needed to awaken the orchard trees and wish them well for the season ahead.
👨👩👧👦 Fun for the whole family! This outdoor activity blends folklore, fresh air, and a sprinkle of seasonal magic—perfect for exploring the gardens during February half term!
