Bring about 1 cup of dry soil for a complimentary test of its pH and texture, conducted by the trained URI Master Gardener volunteers! ๐
Soil Sampling Instructions:
- Identify the Area: Select a representative area with similar physical characteristics (appearance, color, drainage, and use).
- Collect Soil: Using a clean bucket and a spade, gather about 1/2 cup of soil from multiple spots within that area (at least 6 inches down) and mix well.
- Dry the Soil: Allow your soil to dry completely on newspaper or a paper plate (usually overnight).
- Prepare for Testing: Break up any lumps and remove any stones, roots, and debris. Place about one cup of the dry, mixed soil into a clear plastic or paper bag and label the source area.
- Bring It In: Come by the library for your free test! ๐
Trained volunteers will evaluate your soil's pH, assess its texture, and provide you with actionable recommendations!
