GUIRIS DE MIERDA MAY HIKE 🌲🚆
We’re putting together a Guiris de Mierda hiking day for anyone who wants to get some fresh air, meet new people, and enjoy the mountains around Madrid, nothing official or guided, just a friendly day out together. Max 30 people, first come, first served!

📍 Where & When
Date: Saturday, 9th May
Meeting point: 9.30am by Hotel Chamartín The One in Madrid-Chamartín train station
We will be going by “cercanias” train to Cercedilla, a town in north west of Madrid:
Chamartín → Cercedilla (C8B cercanias); leaving 10:14am, 1h ish journey
Cercedilla → Chamartin (C8B cercanias); TBC 17.30 or 18.30 train back
We’ll confirm the exact train time on WhatsApp closer to the date

🚆 Train tickets
Everyone buys their own “cercanias” round-trip ticket (€11/person) at Chamartín station
(journey: Chamartin <-> Cercedilla). Tickets have a 2-hour validity from purchase, so we recommend arriving before 09:30 to grab yours from the machines in the station before meeting with the group. Need help? We can buy together once we are there. Zero advance
payment, free event for Golden Guiris (just your train ticket cost).

⛰ The Route
Loop route starting and finishing at Cercedilla station: 10km, 274m elevation gain
Difficulty: Easy–moderate
Duration: about 3 hours walking, plus a 1h picnic lunch mid-route

🥪 Picnic Lunch
We’ll stop halfway at a picnic area to have a bocadillo / picnic lunch together. Everyone brings their own food and drink; think sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and plenty of water.
We'll also organise some quick games to mingle and get to know each other better!

🧺 What to Bring
Comfortable trail shoes
Water (1L minimum recommended)
Packed lunch and snacks
Sun protection (cap, sunglasses, sunscreen)
Light jacket or extra layer depending on the weather
Good vibes and an open spirit!

🍺 Afterhike
Once we’re back in town, we can head into Cercedilla town (20’ walk from station) to grab a coffee/drink before catching the train back to Madrid (17:30 or 18:30, depending on how we are doing during the day)
📱 Coordination
Registration for the event will be closed by Tuesday, 5 May so we can finalise the headcount and logistics. A WhatsApp group will be created for everyone joining to coordinate train tickets, meeting points, and any updates. And most importantly, to share all the great photos we will take as a group!

🌤 Weather note
We'll keep an eye on the forecast, if there's heavy rain and we can't safely do the hike, we may need to cancel (hoping not, this is the reason we live in Spain!). We'll update in the WhatsApp group

There’s no guide, insurance, or professional organisation. Everyone joins under their own responsibility and should bring suitable gear for mountain conditions.
