AI companies are racing to build powerful systems that they don't fully understand or control. Current harms are evident, mass job loss is looming, and many experts warn this could even lead to human extinction. Hundreds of top experts are demanding a global ban on creating artificial superintelligence until it can be made safe and the public actually wants it. It's up to us to get our policymakers to agree!

What to Expect:

Lobbying may sound intimidating, but it's easier than you think! This event will help you get started. Join us to send emails, make calls (just to voicemail!), and discuss how you can make a genuine difference today and in the future.

We hold this event every month, with a focus that shifts based on what attendees want to work on. Need feedback on an email draft? Looking for info or sources? Want to practice making phone calls? We’ve got you covered!

What to Bring:

• Your phone!
• Optionally, a tablet or laptop if you prefer to write emails on those devices.

Tools We'll Be Using:

• AI Treaty Tool
• Risk Evaluation Act Tool

These tools will help you identify your federal senators and representative.

• Email Tool: Populates a ready-made email that you can edit and personalize. Just hit "Send message" when you're ready!
• Phone Tool: Connects you to your congressional offices with a suggested script. If you call in the evening or on weekends, you’ll go straight to voicemail.

Tips:

Even if you can't make it to the event, follow the links to reach out to your federal representatives. The workshop is a chance to be productive together and support each other.

Remember, lobbying is a numbers game! Regular contact, whether once a month or once a week, is key for maximum impact.
