
Ins & Outs of Observatory Hill - A House Tour
Join us for an exciting exploration of the historic Observatory Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh! π Check-in will be at the entrance of Riverview Park, near the visitor center at the end of Riverview Avenue, from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
This yearβs theme, βCome be nebby!β, invites you to discover the unique homes and maintained green spaces that make Observatory Hill a standout neighborhood. Visitors will have the chance to tour charming historic homes, each showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. π
Enjoy beer tastings from local breweries at selected stops along the way. π» The tour also includes scenic Riverview Park, which celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2024 and is a nationally certified arboretum. π² The park is home to the historic Allegheny Observatory, established in 1859, where you'll find fascinating insights into both science and astronomy. π
Guided tours of the Allegheny Observatory will be available for ticket holders, offering a glimpse into its rich history, including its role in the development of modern time distribution. β±οΈ
Please wear comfortable shoes as the tour will involve walking and navigating some hills. Note: The tour is not ADA accessible, and some homes may have stairs or uneven pathways.
