Inside the Next Big Bay Area Earthquake

🌎 Ever wondered what a major Bay Area earthquake would feel like? The Hayward Fault, stretching through Oakland and Berkeley, is capable of unleashing a devastating magnitude 7 quake. With its last major occurrence in 1868, scientists are left with limited data to predict the next event.

Join us for an enlightening lecture featuring Artie Rodgers, a seismologist from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He will share insights on how supercomputer simulations model potential future earthquakes along the Hayward Fault, helping us understand the possible ground movements and their impacts on the Bay Area.

Rodgers will discuss:

• What we know about seismic activity
• The uncertainties that still exist
• How ongoing research prepares us for upcoming seismic events
