Born Bataan Nitollano, Joe is celebrated for his seductive blend of doo-wop and boogaloo, crafting the iconic Latin soul sound with hits like “Gypsy Woman” and “Ordinary Guy.” 📚 His compelling life story unfolds in his upcoming memoir, Streetology: The Legacy of the Afro-Filipino, King of Latin Soul.
Also taking the stage is the remarkable trio MeloDious, known for their dynamic melodies and vibrant energy. Grounded by keyboardist Micaiah, bassist Matthias, and drummer Memphis Dempsey, they have carved out a space within the Bay Area's musical landscape, captivating audiences with their eclectic blend of gospel, jazz, R&B, and soul. 🎹🎸🥁
The festivities kick off with pre-show sounds from KALW DJ Marcus at 1pm. This event is part of the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival's Weekend Sessions series, in partnership with KALW Music and the Museum of African Diaspora (MoAD).
