About the event

Join us for a captivating concert performance of Katya Kabanova, composed by Leoš Janáček, presented by New Palace Opera. 🌹

📅 Save the Date: Experience this stunning portrayal of a woman caught in the web of family and societal pressure, yearning for love and freedom—only to be constrained by her surroundings.

✨ Our talented cast includes James Schouten (@schouten92), Mae Heydorn (@maeheydorn.contralto_mezzo), Robin Whitehouse, and Jonathan Finney. Coming fresh off their success with @regentsopera’s production of Salome, these artists bring depth and emotion to this tragic opera.

💔 Janáček’s profound connection with this tale—reflecting his own experiences of unrequited love—results in a work filled with intensity, tension, and exquisite lyricism, encapsulated in the theme: “Katya’s suffering is my own.”

🎤 This concert will be performed in English, featuring a translation by Norman Tucker.
