Lenny Kaye

Lenny Kaye is a renowned musician, writer, and record producer who has deeply influenced the music scene. As a founding member of Patti Smith and Her Band, he made his mark during their first performance together at St. Mark's Church in New York’s East Village on February 10, 1971. Throughout his career, Lenny has produced notable artists like Suzanne Vega, Jim Carroll, Allen Ginsberg, Soul Asylum, Kristin Hersh, Pussy Riot, James, and Jessi Colter.

His literary works include You Call It Madness: The Sensuous Song of the Croon (2004), Waylon: An Autobiography (1994), and Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll (2022). His influential anthology, Nuggets: Original Artyfacts of the First Psychedelic Era, is celebrated for defining the garage rock genre and recently marked its golden anniversary. In 2011, he received the honor of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from France.

Lenny's debut solo album, Goin' Local, is set to release on Yep Roc Records on July 17.
