Listening Session Stas Shärifulla and Ziliä Qansurá 'Qosh yulı: On birds and stars as feathers'

About the event

About the Event

Join us for a captivating listening session featuring Stas Shärifulla and Ziliä Qansurá, where traditional songs celebrating birds from the Bashqorts, a Turkic Indigenous people of North Asia, will be performed.

Theme

The event is titled 'Qosh yulı', which translates to 'the Path of Birds'—the Bashqort name for our galaxy, also known as the Milky Way. This path symbolizes the crane feathers left behind for birds trailing the flock, acting as guides for those who are weak or young, ensuring they do not lose their way.

Traditionally, birds are viewed as earthly representations of ancestral spirits, making these songs profoundly significant. They serve a purpose beyond mere beauty—it's a mission to help younger generations stay oriented on their cultural path.
