About the event

We will discuss two very short stories: Ursula Le Guin's "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" and Franz Kafka's "Before the Law" which together make up about 7 pages of reading.

The first is often interpreted as an exploration of utilitarianism, which we can use to explore ideas of morality together as we examine Le Guin's memorable description of an apparently perfect society with one major flaw.

The second is Kafka's short and strange parable about a man who wants access to the law; it is a work which explores ideas of power and authority.

We will meet at L'Objet Trouvé near the Veletržní Palác. I look forward to seeing you there!
