About the event

💬 What is Man Down?
We are dedicated to lowering male suicide rates and breaking the stigma around mental health by providing a safe space for men to express their emotions. We facilitate free, informal talking group meetings every two weeks across the UK.

💬 What Happens at Man Down?
Join us every Tuesday at 19:00 for our supportive talking group. Here, men can openly discuss their mental health experiences. This is a confidential, non-judgmental environment where everyone can contribute at their own comfort level. Along with the meetings, we also organize social meet-ups and provide access to an online peer support group for those who've attended our face-to-face sessions.

💬 How Does the Evening Begin?
Feel free to arrive between 18:45 and 19:00. One of our facilitators will greet you and introduce you to fellow participants, ensuring you feel welcomed. Many attendees share the same initial apprehension, but you'll quickly find you're not alone!

💬 What to Expect During the Meeting?
We kick off at 19:00 with an introduction about Man Down and share details on social activities as well as our online community for staying connected. The meeting is a safe space where confidentiality is honored.

💬 Do I Have to Share?
You’re welcome to share your experiences if you feel up to it, but it's perfectly fine to just listen initially. Many find their voice after a few visits.

💬 Do I Need to RSVP?
No need to inform us beforehand; just show up!

💬 Is It Free?
Absolutely! All costs are covered by Man Down, a Community Interest Company. We are fortunate to receive support through fundraising and grants so that we can offer these meetings at no cost.

💬 What About Refreshments?
We provide tea, coffee, and water during the sessions.

💬 Is Professional Help Available?
While we are not a professional help service, our aim is to create a supportive environment to reduce male suicides and stigma. We’re happy to direct you to professional resources when needed.

💬 Feeling Anxious About Attending?
It’s normal to feel anxious about new experiences. Many find the first step to be the hardest, but we will be here when you feel ready! 🙌
