Austrian drummer and composer Mathias Ruppnig is a vibrant force in the European jazz scene. With his unique project “SCOPES,” he frequently tours across Europe and Asia. He holds prestigious Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria.

Having released five records with renowned labels like Whirlwind Recordings, he has collaborated with legends such as David Liebman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Snarky Puppy's Justin Stanton. His performances have graced many international jazz festivals, including the Jazzfestival Saalfelden, Cully Jazz Festival, and Alfa Jazz Fest in Ukraine.

In 2014, Mathias garnered the DownBeat Award for Outstanding Performance in the Latin group category with the KUG Composers' Ensemble. Currently, he is a member of Tobias Meinhart BerlinPeople and has recently played with the Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio.
