Mazzy Star 33 1/3 Launch Party and Tribute Show

Join Anthony Gomez and Sofia Aguilar to celebrate the launch of SO TONIGHT THAT I MIGHT SEE, a 33 1/3 book on the history of Mazzy Star's rise to fame amidst gentrification, rising violence, and a renaissance of Chicanx art in Los Angeles. We will be joined by an exciting lineup of musicians to perform a diverse range of takes on Mazzy Star's music, celebrating the influence the band continues to have today.

Anthony Gomez III is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Oklahoma. He is interested in nineteenth and twentieth century American literature and popular culture. Sofía Aguilar (she/they) is a Chicana writer, editor, teaching artist, community organizer, and library worker based in Los Angeles, California. Her work has appeared in the L.A. Performing will be the drag queen persona of queer event organizer extraordinaire Dacity; Sweet Peas, a collaboration between Tim from Lone Regicide and Katya Urban from Margueriete; Tia Hormiga, one of the great minds behind the festival Yipps and the band Maldita Sopita, among many other southeast LA creative projects; Sandalwood and Luella, a special cross-genre collaboration; and Grawn, the pairing of two good friend Grady and Shawn who combine humor with music and a love of Mazzy Star.
